I previously tweeted that Gevey SIM doesn’t work on iOS 5 beta 2 and its future releases. But now a friend of mine has confirmed that it still works. @MuscleNerd recently tweeted that Apple has fixed the Gevey SIM’s force activates your iPhone without needing root access to your iPhone.
Warning: iOS 5 is still in Beta. Please do not update to iOS 5 until it hits the final version. I highly recommend you to stay away from this update. Make sure you are on 4.10.1 baseband!
Here’s how you can use Gevey SIM with iOS 5 beta 2 [Tested on Windows]:
- Download Sn0wbreeze from here. Sn0wbreeze is a utility to build Custom Firmware using Windows.
- Once you cook the firmware, just restore it with iTunes 10.5 beta 2. And you are good to go!
I will post a detailed tutorial on how to cook custom firmware using Sn0wbreeze soon.
Note: This is still in testing phase. I will confirm this very soon about what works, and what is broken.
Update: Here are the pics:
Thanks @ehhmad for confirming this!
